Objective

I'm in my 5th year in the news industry. I am seeking my next job as my current contract ends in August 2026.

I am currently an MMJ/ Weekend Anchor at WDBJ. I regularly report live from breaking news scenes, weather events, and deliver stories that connect with our viewers. I enjoy enhancing my storytelling using graphics, drones, driving shots, digital tools and conversational reports. I have a passion for covering topics related to education, health, community impact, development and historic or cultural stories.

In my time in the news industry, I have covered multiple statewide and local elections, as well as major weather events including snowstorms and hurricanes. I have also reported on racial issues aimed at educating the next generation. This pertains to the demolition of buildings in a historically black community, the preservation of a slave dwelling for educational purposes and students who came to the U.S. as high schoolers and later became ESL teachers at their alma maters.

As an anchor, I go beyond simply reading the teleprompter. Ad-libbing comes naturally to me at the desk, whether I’m engaging with my co-anchor, meteorologist, or conducting live interviews. I strive to make viewers feel connected, as if they’re part of a conversation with a friend.

I am committed to building relationships within the community. I involve myself in local organizations and take the time to connect to those who live within community. I always seek to uncover the story beneath the surface, providing solutions to the issues faced by the communities in our viewing area. I believe that my passion for community engagement and experience in broadcast journalism will be valuable to your news team.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
