Baltimore Public Media (BPM) is the parent organization of WYPR 88.1 FM and WTMD 89.7 FM. Position Summary
The Finance Manager has primary responsibility for serving as the main contact for the day-to-day accounting function for BPM including full-cycle accounting, financial statements preparation, audit/990 assistance and grant reporting. This position reports to our CFO and the CEO. This position oversees the AP/AR Specialist and works closely with other senior managers at BPM.
Key Responsibilities
ACH processing, bank account and credit card reconciliations
Accruals and other related journal entries associated with the month-end close
Maintenance of fixed asset schedules and monitoring of capital expenditures activity
Preparation of reconciling schedules supporting the financial statements
Compilation of monthly financials and forecasts
Creation and tracking of annual budgets
Preparation of board meeting materials
Assistance with personnel and business insurance
Annual charitable registration and other corporate filings, regulator/grantor compliance reporting, and tracking of revenues and expenditures associated with grants
Participation in year-end audit, regulatory and 990 filings
Generating annual 1099 forms and 1096 report
Qualifications
Minimum six years of directly applicable experience
Supervisory experience, including interfacing with various departments/functions
Foster a collaborative team spirit based on mutual respect
Able to lead by example, delegate respectfully and make sound independent decisions
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting or Finance
CPA-track is a plus
Technical Requirements:
Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and 365. Demonstrated experience in Excel
Familiarity with QuickBooks Online
Preferred Qualifications:
Public broadcasting and/or community media (e.g., radio, digital, TV) experience
One or more years of public accounting experience
Familiarity with project and/or people management
Past interaction with nonprofits and an understanding of mission-based organizations
