The Atlantic is seeking an assistant editor to join the newsroom. This person will be assigned to the Science, Technology, and Health team. The ideal candidate will be curious, organized, well-read in magazine journalism, and hungry to learn. The position is full-time.
Assistant editors are integral members of the newsroom at every phase of work, from generating ideas to bringing The Atlantic’s journalism to life. They work closely with senior editors to keep the editorial wheels turning, with responsibilities that include—but aren’t limited to—fact-checking, story research, participating in editorial meetings, maintaining publication schedules, managing submissions, and preparing edited work for publication online. The job may have occasional opportunities for writing and editing, as well. It will at times include night, early-morning, and weekend work.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate include:
Salary Minimum: $69,000; Salary Maximum: $75,000
