Job Description

WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Needham, MA has an opening for a full-time Broadcast Floor Director. The Floor Director is an integral part of the Operations team, relaying cues and instructions, operating the teleprompter as well as maintaining studio cleanliness and organization. You will support all station efforts in-house and on remote productions. You will report to the Technical Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Relay cues, timing, and instructions from the director to on-air talent and guests
  • Ability to listen to the director and control room staff through a headset while simultaneously being aware of and coordinating the action in the studio
  • Supervise the setup of studio equipment including microphones, props, and technical gear
  • Move and handle props and sets during in-house and remote productions (this could mean lifting heavy equipment up to 50 lbs)
  • Maintain appearance of studios including cleaning and organization of set
  • Run teleprompter for on-air talent during broadcast
  • Dress microphones and IFB's for on-camera appearances
  • Assist with various needs on remote productions
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Technical Operations Manager

Requirements

  • Entry-level role requiring basic understanding of the technical aspects of broadcasting
  • Must be able to multitask, pay attention to detail, be punctual and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays
  • Basic multi-media computer skills
