ABOUT THE ROLE Fast Company’s social media team is looking for a curious, creative, and resourceful new producer to help bring the brand’s social presence to the next level. This hybrid role (Tuesday-Thursday onsite) reports to the Social Media Director and is based in the New York City office.
Social media continues to evolve rapidly, with each new day introducing new trends, new algorithms, new platforms – and new ways to learn. The social media producer will be tasked with helping to build and grow Fast Company’s presence on flagship social media accounts, supporting the social team in translating its journalism to a broad social audience, and playing a critical role in developing relationships with and collaborating across the broader Fast Company team – all while maintaining the brand's journalistic integrity.
This position is covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Salary range: $65,000 - $78,000 + bonus eligible. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Day-to-day social media activities, including scheduling timely and planned editorial content, generating compelling social copy, and responding to social requests.
Support community management on our channels, responding to and engaging with appropriate content and ensuring that any feedback or concerns raised on our accounts are escalated.
Oversee and publish two LinkedIn newsletters that publish daily and weekly, respectively.
Work across the broader Fast Company team – editorial, art, video, events, marketing, podcast, print – on social media components of new and recurring projects, magazine launches, and flagship events, including working on strategy, editing social messaging, attending planning meetings, and onsite social support.
Work with social media director to grow our online presence, including supporting writers on social media best practices, identifying tactics to drive traffic to our website, and scripting articles for social video creation.
Identify and support the creation of Fast Company accounts on emerging social platforms and develop general strategies and activations for our content, e.g. Bluesky and WhatsApp Channels.
Assist on other social media tasks as needed, including occasional weekend work.
Job Requirements
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
1-3 years of social media marketing and/or news journalism experience preferred
Excellent news judgement and an interest in digital storytelling
Proven ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders
Can learn quickly and have a knack for problem-solving independently
Experience creating news-related TikToks or Reels
