Who we are looking for:

To support our digital news operations, we are seeking a Senior Digital News Manager to help reporters’ stories reach digital audiences, contribute to daily news coverage, and ensure clean and accurate copy regardless of the medium.

We are looking for an individual dedicated to local journalism, inspired to make KNKX stories stand out online, and who is excited to collaborate with the talented journalists in our newsroom.

Some of what you will be doing:

This position is for an editor with strong news judgment who can help quickly turn a story, take a reporter’s work to the next level, and coordinate coverage with internal and external partners.

This role requires someone who is familiar with the tools of a digital newsroom including content management systems (CMS), search engine optimization (SEO), web accessibility, and analytics, as well as best practices for audience engagement and social media.

This role involves editing and being the final set of eyes on digital news content, providing quality control. The ideal candidate is also a skilled writer, able to contribute original digital stories or to rewrite for different platforms. They may have the opportunity to appear on air with our news hosts. The KNKX newsroom encourages creativity, whether it’s selecting visuals, testing different types of content, or imagining new ways to reflect the voices of our region.

This role also requires collaboration with other digital staff across the organization and will support special series involving the KNKX newsroom. The Senior Digital News Manager will be required to participate in some live station events such as fund drives and perform other duties as assigned.

This role will work with newsroom leadership to accurately and efficiently bring reporting to digital audiences. This person will be responsible for turning radio broadcast stories into online content. The role may require occasional evening and weekend work, responding to breaking news or NPR live special coverage.

The ideal candidate will be able to pivot when needed, collaborate with others, and remain calm and professional under pressure. They will demonstrate a commitment to producing fair and balanced journalism with integrity. The Senior Digital News Manager will be expected to maintain KNKX’s editorial standards while helping drive growth on digital platforms.
