Assistant Editor (Chicago-based

General Job Description:

Weigel Broadcasting Co. has an immediate opening for an Assistant Editor. The AE will work with operations producers, content producers and post-production editors for the growing production unit at Weigel Broadcasting. The AE will be responsible for managing media assets and preparing edit projects for the production team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

-Ingest, name, tag and maintain a streamlined, organized database for all current and future assets, including live, studio and field-based video elements on a time-sensitive base.

-Group and sync multi-cam footage.

-Prepare projects and string out footage for editors.

-Collaborate with Operations and Production and Post Production Management to manage database development.

-Partner with senior editors on ongoing media needs.

-Execute organizational workflows for large, multi-element projects and events.

-Maintain best practices of library maintenance.

-Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

-Experience with Adobe Premiere is required

-Proficiency in MS365 and Google Workspace

-Experience archiving and maintaining audio/video assets

-Highly organized, detail-oriented, and consistently meets deadlines

-A natural understanding of storytelling, pacing, and the ability to assemble string outs and rough cuts

-Strong understanding of video file management best practices

-Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills

-Ability to maintain consistency in file naming and organizational structure

-Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $17.00-25.00 hourly.
