Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Podcast Producer is responsible for creating and executing original podcast productions according to Mansueto Ventures podcast strategy. Working with the editorial staffs of both Inc. Magazine and Fast Company Magazine, the podcast and video team, and reporting to the VP of Entertainment, the podcast producer will help develop new podcast content across both brands. It is represented by the Fast Company and Inc. union the Writers Guild of America-East.
 
Salary: The Guild minimum for this role is $68,000; salary is negotiable based on the candidate’s skills and experience.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Responsible for the production of podcasts across Fast Company and Inc.
  • Work alongside podcast talent to develop show format and flow
  • Research topics, book guests, and conduct pre-interviews for each episode
  • Write episode scripts and host-read copy when necessary
  • Record sessions
  • Edit and mix episodes
  • Publish episodes in Megaphone
  • Coordinate with social media & editorial teams to create and execute best possible promotion strategy
  • Monitor audience growth and develop new ways to increase programming reach and retention
  • Ideate and execute new ways to cross promote programming with other podcast programs and friends of each brand
  • Help produce custom, branded podcast content

Job Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant experience
  • 2+ year(s) of experience with audio production (or in media with at least 1 year in audio)
General Skills:
  • Audio production and editing skills
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills
  • Strong influence and interpersonal skills; ability to interact and work with staff at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Shows initiative, follow through and effectively own projects from start to finish
  • Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills
  • Creative writing ability
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates positive attitude, adaptability to shifting goals, and growth mindset
  • Experience in business/tech journalism a plus
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in audio editing and mixing software (Experience working in Adobe Audition, a plus)
  • Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience with audio repair, sound design and mixing, a plus
