The specialist for Walgreens Health will be responsible for delivering on daily communications activities for Walgreens Health Communications, including internal and external communications efforts, reporting, creating, writing, editing and proofreading. This ideal candidate has experience across social media platforms and will support thought leadership content creation. Working closely with the broader Walgreens Health communications team, this newly created role will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted communications partner for key business leaders and their business units. Maintains and fosters cross-functional and positive working relationships across the business. Job Responsibilities: Serves as creator and editor of Compass communications, executive and field leader messaging, podcasts, articles, playbooks, speaker notes, job-aids, event planning and other miscellaneous publications, programs or channels related to communications. Responsible for content planning, development, delivery, and continuing to grow readership. Ensures accuracy of field communications including content and messaging. Plans, prepares, writes and edits messaging and publications ensuring that communications have clear objectives, content is accurate and audience appropriate. Fact checks for accuracy. Proactively provides feedback and support to business partners to help improve overall comprehension of messaging. Acts as a consultant and resource for support office teams to create communications plans, content and provides feedback proactively to develop the skill in others. Proactively seeks feedback for continuous improvement and delivers a positive brand representations in all interactions. Accountable to ensure the communications we deliver to field operations are effective, efficiently and timely. Responsible for maintaining positive cross-functional partnerships with corporate communications and other business units across the support office. Maintains positive internal and external relationships. Oversees company’s online communities and blogs, including monitoring and moderation. Posts and promotes engaging content that encourages participation and the development of member-generated content (e.g., community posts, articles, surveys, blogs, etc.). Informs leaders, business partners and communications colleagues on how to use online communication tools. Provides basic technology counsel to team, including identifying and developing emerging technologies. Leverage functional expertise to create, edit and support business partners with PowerPoint presentations as needed. Serves as a liaison to field operations and responsible to stay connected through quarterly field visits in partnership with leaders and teams. Monitors and proactively acts on field feedback to apply solutions that improve the quality and efficiency of communications and publications.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications OR a high school diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in communications activities at a company/professional services firm Experience writing short, action-based communications and lengthy, strategic documents and presentations Experience communicating to various audiences (company management, team members, work team) with a focus on internal, electronic, and print communications Knowledge of communications best practices, such as design, development, and management of user-generated content (for example: blogs and social networking sites) Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Basic level skill with Photoshop (e.g., resizing photos, erasing backgrounds, adding layers and basic photo editing, such as brightness and contrast). Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state) Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a communications discipline (for example: mass communications, health communications, journalism, public relations) Experience in editorial and production in print and electronic media Experience in retail/store operations or pharmacy operations Experience in healthcare communications Advanced level skill with Adobe Illustrator (for example: including working with the paintbrush tool, advanced transparency, managing symbols, creating 3-d effects, working with live effects, working with graphic styles, adding effects, saving and printing options, creating outlines, and creating flash animations).
