Job Description

The Martinsville Bulletin, a website/daily newspaper in Southwest Virginia owned by Lee Enterprises, seeks an aggressive and nimble reporter to cover a variety of topics and produce engaging and audience-moving content on its digital and print platforms. A qualified candidate will be asked to develop contacts, context and ultimately content across a variety of topics, including government, education, crime/courts and community affairs in a digital-first approach.

A candidate should have a working knowledge of public records and data collection and be capable of producing visual content such as still photographs and video. Specific training in any of those areas would be considered a bonus. This reporter will be scheduled to work some nights and weekends, based on assignments and overall staff scheduling.

Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and experience in college newspapers supplemented by journalistic internships or freelance work.
