This senior management position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for building support and increasing ridership for the WeGo Public Transit system, including services of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Nashville and Davidson County, and the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee. Under the leadership of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Marketing, Sales and Communication will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Planning and Grants, Director of Community and Legislative Relations, and the Director of Customer Care to advance tactical and strategic communications strategies.
Overall, the success of these efforts will be measured against: 1. Increased “sales;” through ridership and third-party operating income (i.e.: advertising, sponsorships, employer pass sales, etc.);
2. Improved “image,” general public perception, customer satisfaction, government, and media relations/coverage;
3. Increased awareness of WeGo Public Transit projects, services and activities, and increased brand equity, overall recognition and presence of organization in the communities we serve.
Management duties include developing and implementing a research-based marketing plan with defined measures of success; monitoring, upholding and expanding WeGo Public Transit branding; directing internal and external communications; overseeing the evolution and implementation of the crisis communications and media relations plan; overseeing the production and dissemination of public information such as the system maps, route schedules, Web information, NextBus signs and other related publications; developing and maintaining the organizations’ social media policies and presence; mentoring department staff; preparing correspondence and presentations for the CEO, MTA customers, government agencies, and/or business and community groups; and overseeing the company’s participation in community events.
This position is responsible for managing Advertising and Marketing Contracts and communicating with departmental staff and senior level management on the program goals and growth.
This position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Recommended and preferred preparation for this position. BA or BS in management, public relations, or marketing, and a minimum six years in management, including four years in public relations, marketing, or sales with documented experience in preparing and measuring results against marketing plans. Must have prior supervisory and project management experience. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels. Strong computer skills in word processing. A portfolio demonstrating a high level of experience in delivering products that value diversity and inclusion is a plus.
