Radio Diaries is seeking a Producer to join our team. This is a full-time position.
Radio Diaries is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and strongly encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities in the audio field to apply. We especially welcome applications from people of color, women, veterans, people with disabilities, and gender nonconforming candidates.
We are looking for a producer who ideally has 2-4 years of experience producing narrative audio stories, is highly organized, a good writer, a hard worker, and brimming with ideas. The ideal candidate would be well versed in building stories with a narrative and emotional arc, integrating scenes, ideas, and music. We are also open to candidates without audio editing experience, if they have demonstrated excellence in writing and narrative storytelling in other media, such as print or film. We are seeking a candidate who is self motivated and thrives in a highly collaborative environment.
Radio Diaries is a small non-profit organization (three full-time staff) and we do not have a traditional hierarchical office culture – everybody does a bit of everything. Producers also contribute to non-production activities, from grant proposals to marketing and social media.
This position is based in DUMBO, Brooklyn, though we are currently operating remotely. We predict this will be a remote position for the first 6-9 months. Once it’s safe to return to the office, we hope a producer will work out of our NYC office (with flexibility). Depending on experience, this job could be at the level of Assistant, Associate or full Producer. Salary will likely range from $65,000 – $85,000. This role qualifies for job benefits including health and dental insurance.
Radio Diaries is an equal opportunity employer. To apply, email email@example.com with the role you’re applying for and your last name in the subject line (Ex: “Producer Job: Richman”). Include a resume, cover letter, contact information for two references, three work samples; and two pitches for stories that you think would be a good fit for Radio Diaries. At least one of these pitches should be a history story. Tell us why you think it’s a good story and how you would go about producing it: who you would interview, any possible scenes or archival tape, etc. (These pitches will remain your intellectual property). Only the most qualified candidates will be contacted. No phone calls, please.
