Multimedia Journalist Job Description:
Lean Enterprise Institute seeks an early to mid-career journalist to join our team. This new team member will conduct research, interview sources, and produce engaging stories—short- and long-form features, podcasts, videos, and animations--to inform, captivate, and help us grow our community. Our ideal candidate is a proactive, self-starter with experience writing and editing, photography, and recording and editing audio and video.
Journalist Duties and Responsibilities
·       Align with leadership around Editorial and Marketing Strategy and Calendar
·       Proactively gather resources and insights to help develop the plan supporting the strategic direction.
·       Discover, pitch and develop stories from thought leaders.
·       Gather information for stories through observation, interviews, investigation, and research
·       Build a network of sources for interviews and develop relationships within the community
·       Take photographs, video, or audio recordings to document events and facts
·       Analyze facts and information and determine the most effective way to tell the story
·       Write and report stories and updates for use online with all forms of digital media.
·       Organize details to create the most impactful stories for the given medium
·       Able to capture digital content through video and make or recommend needed edits to bring the story to life
·       Receive drafts from others and provide final edits and format to represent the most powerful content.
·       Develop a keen understanding of Lean Thinking and Practice application
·       Develop an understanding of business transformation
·       Travel to various locations when able, to find current, relevant details about newsworthy events in real-time and after the fact
·       Maintains effective, collaborative relationships with the entire communication team
·       Develops and maintains a positive relationship with members of the LEI Community
·       Work closely with internal clients to understand their goals, provide expert advice and produce effective content in a timely manner.
·        Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
 
 
 

Job Requirements

Journalist Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, English, or related field
·       Skills and experience in writing, editing, photography, audio (podcast) and video production; social media a plus.
·       Adaptable and able to build rapport with a diverse array of people
·       Disciplined with strong time management skills; able to work to deadlines
·       Superb research and writing skills
·       Creative and inquiring mind
·       Strong interpersonal communication skills
·       Knowledge of communications media and telecommunications technology
·       Understanding of shield laws, local ordinances, and legal precedents regarding journalism and the rights of reporters
