Job Description

exaqueo, an employer brand consultancy, is growing and we’re seeking an employer brand content producer and storyteller. This is a full-time, salaried, individual contributor role primarily focused on writing and content development. It is a virtual (work-from-home) role but the employee must be based and have the right to work in the United States.

We are unequivocally an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to any status or characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

About exaqueo:
At exaqueo, we specialize in building employer brands and talent strategies for high-growth and mature companies. Our engagements range from full-scale employer brand development to content and recruiting strategy to full creative and digital execution. We’re known for our workforce research and almost every engagement we complete has a research component. We're also known for our approach to employer brand strategy—it's holistic, cutting-edge, and the most mature approach available.

About the role:
In this role, you’ll be telling the authentic, real, and diverse stories of our clients who come to us for our niche expertise in employer brand and talent strategy. You’ll help amplify and bring their authentic employment experiences to life through content strategy and content creation, and bring your social and cultural awareness to the stories we tell. You’ll partner with the client engagement team and our creative team to ensure our work is aligned, cohesive, and effective.

You’ll start every day ready to work—hard.
Your work will be balanced between helping to create content on client projects to facilitating content development plans, and supporting the content needs of the organization. From day to day, you may be:

  • heads down creating content, such as web copy, employee stories, social media posts, job postings and descriptions
  • developing content approaches and innovating new ways to tell stories
  • providing consulting advice on voice, tone, content channels, or content effectiveness
  • contributing to client messaging strategy and development
  • proofing and editing others’ work
  • creating exaqueo blog and social media content

Here’s the reality:
You’ll be working with multiple colleagues and clients on any given day and you may find yourself managing challenging clients, addressing tight deadlines, and/or going back to the drawing board. The work ebbs and flows—so, if you’re looking for routine, we’re not the place for you. You’ll have days where you’re moving from task to task or meeting to meeting at a frantic pace. But you thrive on work like this and say ‘bring it on.’

What we have to offer:

  • Work variety: You’ll be writing, storytelling, and strategizing for clients across industries and geographies
  • Collaboration: A highly collaborative team where responsibility is shared; we collectively own success and work together to achieve
  • Opportunity: This is the first time we opened this unique role, so there’s flexibility to grow and shape it over time
  • Autonomy: The ability to own and be accountable for your work
  • Support: Job shadowing and training to get to know our company, our clients, and our work
  • Innovation and expertise: We're experts in employer brand and deliver research, strategy, and creative in a cutting-edge way no other firm can match
  • A first-rate team: A close-knit, energetic, experienced, and talented team committed to growing our company and to supporting each other
  • Unlimited vacation: Take time off when you need it
  • Distributed workforce: The opportunity to work from anywhere in the United States
  • Flexible schedule: Set your own hours (within our core set of hours) and work at your own pace as long as you’re meeting deadlines and are available to clients when they need you

Job Requirements

What we want in return:

  • Experience: We require at least 3-5+ years of in-house (non-vendor) experience in a high-growth or mature company with specific communications and content experience in HR or marketing
  • Expertise: You have experience in writing for inclusive and diverse audiences and in partnering with and belonging to internal resource groups for those audiences
  • Resume: You’ve got strong writing, content creation, and storytelling experience, and can talk about the results you have achieved
  • Organization: you're deadline driven and you thrive on detail-orientation and project management
  • Hard work: You welcome and embrace hard work and work with the mindset of getting the most out of every minute of the day
  • Interest: You’re passionate about writing and can stay focused and energized on complicated and lengthy content. You’re excited about the areas of HR where we do business and regularly read and stay up to date on HR, talent, and employer brand trends
  • Listening: You love hearing stories and thrive on understanding and capturing diverse perspectives, detail, and emotion in what you produce
  • Fast learner: You have the ability to learn on the fly, get up to speed, and understand direction the first time
  • Connect with our values: When you read our values and work rules you think "that's exactly how I get work done"
  • Relationship-building experience: Your colleagues and clients really like working with you and you gain people’s trust quickly
  • Humility: You’re not too experienced or proud to help wherever it’s needed
  • An interruption-free environment: You have a set place to work and when you’re working, you’re not multi-tasking or responsible for other things
  • Travel: during normal times, Travel may be required from time to time. Currently, we are on suspended travel through the end of 2020 subject to change.
  • Education and training: A college degree is preferred

Equal employment opportunity: exaqueo is, and advocates for, Equal Opportunity Employers (EOE). We make employment decisions without regard to age, race, ethnicity, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, marital status, citizenship status, veteran status, physical or mental disability, or any other status or characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. To apply:

  • Send your resume to careers@exaqueo.com with the following (1) how you match our must haves and requirements (2) what you find most compelling about what we do and (3) salary expectations (dollar range).
  • Please also include 3-5 writing samples of varied, published (if possible) content that shows your ability to connect in a human and authentic way with your audience. Additional work samples (content and/or strategy) welcome.
