Job Description

U.S. News & World Report is seeking an Editor to assist in the creation of investing editorial content, with a consumer advice angle that helps people make smarter decisions when it comes to stocks, funds, portfolio management, retirement investing, real estate investing and more. This full-time position requires solid editing and writing skills as well as a keen interest in audience engagement across different platforms such as social media and newsletters. The ideal candidate should be able to work with a team that would include other editors, writers, producers, freelancers, developers and product team members. A background in either business news or personal finance is a must. This position is located in our Washington, D.C. office.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an essential part of a team that recruits freelancers and bloggers to generate content with a consumer-advice focus.
  • Successfully juggle the editing and production of SEO-rich enterprise content.
  • Edit investing stories from staff writers and contributors.
  • Contribute to the editing and production of newsletters.
  • Generate story ideas and write occasionally.
  • Contribute to guiding investing content strategy.
  • Work closely with product and design teams as well as with our tech developers on new and ongoing initiatives.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Three to five years of editing experience, preferably in an online news environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with business news and investing topics.
  • Strong understanding of SEO.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, web production, social media and newsletters.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience working with and managing freelancers and writers preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent.
