NC A&T State University – News & Record/Janice Bryant Howroyd Endowed Professorship
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at NC A&T State University invites applications for the News & Record/Janice Bryant Howroyd Endowed Professorship. The position is a 9-month appointment at the rank of full professor, to begin fall 2020. The endowed position may be renewed for three years.
The department seeks an accomplished candidate with a distinguished record of professional experience, scholarly research, strong commitment to teaching, evidence of an ability to develop programs of excellence that will enhance the professional and ethical capabilities of future journalism and mass communication leaders.
The successful candidate will produce scholarly publications, teach two courses in journalism and mass communication, and serve as a mentor to junior faculty and students.
A Ph.D. in communication, journalism, mass media, strategic communication or a closely related field is desired. An outstanding teaching record and eight or more years of research experience with a proven record of scholarly productivity at the University level is preferred. Evidence of professional experience in the field of communication is required.
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication offers a Bachelor of Science degree with concentrations in multimedia journalism, mass media production, and public relations, which are accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). It is housed within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, which enrolls more than 1,850 students and has more than 105 faculty members. More than 600 students are majors in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department.
