Job Description

Help lead the journalism movement responding to the crisis of trust in our work and the rise of disinformation. The Trust Project ( seeks a dynamic Trust Network manager to support the growing number of news sites implementing our Trust Indicators. This full-time, core team member will build engagement among our network of news partners; support both technical and editorial compliance by news partners; manage gatherings; and execute important strategic collaborations.

We operate as a global network of news organizations working to restore trust in the news, recognizing that a free and responsible press plays a trusted role in civic life, upholding public interest, exposing injustice, and enabling dialogue across peoples, perspectives and platforms.

The Trust Project created the Trust Indicators, the first transparency standards for news that help people easily assess the authority and integrity of news, and works with technology platforms to affirm and amplify journalism’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, inclusion. Our news partners display these Trust Indicators and technology platforms including Google, Facebook and Bing use them to surface reliable, relevant news. Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • 3+ years of community management, leading volunteer engagement or other community-building work, preferably in a digital environment
  • Experience with news-related organizations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent social media skills and knowledge of SEO as used by news sites
  • Familiarity with news design and development operations and content management systems, including some technical knowledge and aptitude for learning technology
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze trends and deliver insights on news partner and network relationships
  • Excellent team building and inter-personal skills
  • A self-starter excited about working in a startup/entrepreneurial environment where every day is different and you will juggle many priorities
  • Comfortable with customizing tools such as Trello, Slack, TeamWork for project purposes
  • Fluency with screen-share platforms (Zoom, etc.) as a way of collaborating and coaching
  • Ability to integrate the principle of building diversity into all aspects of the Trust Project and its network, built upon an understanding of the importance of inclusion to journalism
Also preferred:
  • Experience with global communities
  • Facility with Spanish or Italian; German or other European languages also a plus
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
  • Familiarity with user-centered design
  • BA/BS
