Job Description

The Annenberg Media Center at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our high-performing team.

The Media Production Supervisor will provide training and technical support to students, faculty and staff who participate in Annenberg Media Center productions.  In addition, the incumbent will provide curricular support for the classes that work with the Media Center.  Equipment maintenance, upkeep and user account management is also required on all television broadcast systems.   As part of the Multimedia team, the incumbent will be expected to support other team members and Media Center student content creation done on the radio and online. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with online publishing.  

Job Duties:

  • Daily production supervision and support of broadcast television studio production.
  • Daily pre and post-production support of Adobe Premiere video editing and shared video distribution network or Media Asset Management system.
  • Daily support and user account management for Avid iNews rundown production software.
  • Daily system checks for Avid iNews servers, Ross Overdrive and the MAM playback servers and graphics systems to ensure they are connected and working properly.
  • Maintain and support daily news wire feeds and CNN digital footage file ingests.
  • Daily support with Digital and Social media production software.
  • Daily support with file conversion and video file uploading and streaming to web sites and social media outlets.
  • Meet with the Multimedia team to plan/organize production support.
  • Meet with the Media Center student management teams to discuss technical production needs.
  • Perform updates and maintenance on audio/video equipment in Media Center.
  • Assemble commercial breaks and create effects for the student newscast.
  • Teach workshops for students to learn studio production techniques (directing, Ross Overdrive automation directing and coding, technical directing, floor managing, audio, etc.), studio production equipment (FORK video playback, Ross Xpression graphics, TelePrompter, and camera control), skills in video field production equipment (cameras, microphones, etc.), field production techniques (shot framing, lighting, hand-held), live shots production (TVU bonded cellular systems), graphic creation (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects), web production (Dreamweaver and Pagebuilder) and video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro).
