The Washington Post is looking for an accomplished video editor to join our team as a Morning Mix video editor. The ideal candidate is a versatile journalist who feels comfortable both pursuing the latest viral video and producing in-depth video stories.
The successful candidate will work overnight alongside The Post’s Morning Mix team from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., covering subjects ranging from crime to science to pop culture and politics. They will be expected to generate original ideas nightly. They will often lead our video coverage in breaking news situations by sourcing social video content and producing quick-turn original packages to complement and elevate our text reporting.
Washington Post video editors have experience in a high-pressure newsroom environment, solid news judgment, familiarity with video acquisition and strong writing skills. A proven understanding of social media and the ability to use Adobe Premiere is also required.
