Essential duties/responsibilities

• Work to help the corps members do excellent journalism and have a meaningful, positive experience in the program -- and that newsrooms are thrilled with the work of that journalist and the RFA program.
• Counsel and advise corps members on how to interact with their editors, their beats and their communities.
• Work with all host news organizations to ensure they follow Report for America program values, mission and procedures.
• Initiate and build partnerships with universities, journalism groups and other outlets to develop corps member opportunities for experiential endeavors locally, regionally and state-wide.
• Conduct site visits to newsrooms to evaluate progress and satisfaction of newsrooms. Visit corps members, too, possibly off-site, including during their service project work. 
• Conduct monthly conference calls with employers and corps members.
• Assist Director of Recruitment in identifying potential news organizations in your region to host RFA corps members.
• Work alongside Report for America and GroundTruth colleagues to identify and promote speaking, conference participation and other opportunities for corps members, funders and partners in your region.
• Produce monthly reports on the program’s progress and the progress of the corps members in your region.
• Promote diversity within the program.
• Assist the Director of Corps Excellence, corps members and media companies in the contest entry process.
• Coordinate meetings and other activities for annual visit of Director of Corps Excellence.
• Work with the Director of Evaluation to evaluate the corps member and news organization’s progress and satisfaction.
• Work with the Director of Training to ensure the best possible continuing professional development for the corps members in that region.
• Work with the Director of Training and Service Projects to help corps members build outstanding and meaningful service projects.
• Work with RFA and GroundTruth leaders to develop strategies that help with the quality of the editing that the corps members are receiving.

MONTHLY DELIVERABLES

• Report on corps members and newsroom activities/issues, etc.
• List of proposed visits/trainings, etc. in the region
• Monthly group Zoom call with Corps Excellence team at headquarters
• Any other item(s) as directed by the Director of Corps Excellence

QUARTERLY DELIVERABLES

• Roundup of activities for the quarter
• Along with Director of Evaluation, producing the corps member and news room evaluations
