The role of the Markets Reporter is to cover a portfolio of petrochemicals markets, producing news and data-driven analysis, pricing reports and other content, as well as keeping plant databases and report methodologies updated, and assisting in the production of news and reports contributed by other Editorial staff.
The Markets Reporter gathers information by developing relationships with sources and produces high-value content by building a comprehensive knowledge base about the markets and the industry, and producing high-quality, accurate and timely content in accordance with standard procedures and style requirements.
Meticulous record-keeping and strict adherence to other compliance-related policies are essential in this role.
The Markets Reporter contributes to the profile of ICIS by attending conferences and helping to organize ICIS events; by meeting sources in person; and by supporting Sales visits to existing and potential customers.
The Markets Reporter also contributes ideas about, and carries out work on, new coverage areas, methodology issues, and new product opportunities with the aim of expanding the ICIS business and meeting customer needs.
As well as producing news and pricing content for a designated portfolio of markets, the Markets Reporter will temporarily cover other markets as required, and ensure continuous coverage of their own news and report responsibilities through proper planning as well as maintenance of up-to-date source lists and cover notes.
Key Responsibilities:
Cover a portfolio of petrochemical markets to produce daily and weekly price reports, market analyses, real-time news and in-depth stories
Write engaging copy to regular deadlines, with the highest level of accuracy, balance and analysis
Proactively chase stories across your portfolio of petrochemicals
Interview market sources by telephone and face-to-face to discover pricing information and market trends
Assess the validity of information and place it within a wider context
Develop sources and maintain existing relationships
Travel to industry events in the US and abroad
Produce podcasts and video content

Experience:
Direct experience in journalism/writing or a journalism, English, economics degree or similar
Petrochemical industry knowledge or knowledge of financial markets is desirable but not required
Ability to speak a foreign language, particularly Spanish and/or Portuguese, would be beneficial but not necessary
