The Recount is an influential media news brand focused on keeping close and knowing tabs on the worlds of politics, business, tech, and culture, across a suite of digital, social and experiential platforms. Founded in 2019 by John Heilemann and John Battelle, The Recount was launched to provide short form video content that keeps you updated and educated on the news — without all the extra noise that’s endemic to mainstream media today. 

Today, the company is growing into streaming, podcasting, and several other ancillary business lines. We’re native to the online culture driving news, while at the same time holding that culture accountable to the highest standards of journalism.
