Summary

King County is looking for an exceptional and innovative Communications professional to join the Harborview Bond Program. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, this person will be responsible for all elements of communication for King County’s $1.74 billion Harborview Bond Program, including creating and executing communication plans for engagement with mainstream media, community, external and internal stakeholders. Working with program leadership, this person will create content on a variety of topics for internal and external audiences for digital platforms and relevant social media, using video, audio, photography, graphic design, and print.

SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES: To be considered for these opportunities, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to:

  • Develop, implement, and update communication plans. 
  • Seek media opportunities and respond to inquiries which highlight the Bond Program.
  • Serve as media spokesperson for the Harborview Bond Program and/or coach others to serve as spokesperson.
  • Identify key audiences and messages and the appropriate communication methods and tools to effectively reach them.
  • Create press releases, talking points, social media posts, and other materials as needed as part of a coordinated communication plan.
  • Develop and/or curate content for and manage Harborview Bond Program social media channels; assist in the coordination and social media ad buys.
  • Audit website and other online and social media content to meet user-centered needs for clear, accessible and up-to-date content and information.
  • Plan and manage communication projects in coordination with graphic designers, project and program managers, videographers, photographers, and IT professionals. 
  • Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify communication needs and issues.
  • Coordinate with the Executive’s Communications Director and internal and external communication teams.   
  • Develop communications that drive connections to King County’s True North and Values including anti-racism, equity, and social justice.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO:
  • Have a background in strategic communications.
  • Have a solid understanding of communication best practices, including sensitivity to occupationally and racially diverse audiences and understand user experience design principles and data visualization. 
  • Can collaborate with internal and external leaders and work as part of a team.
  • Can anticipate and respond to emerging issues. 
  • Have exceptional copywriting skills and demonstrated accurate, clear, and concise writing and editing skills.
  • Have outstanding research, presentation, and interviewing skills.
  • Have experience with high profile project and crisis management.
