Associate Photo Editor, Newsletters

Primary Function

This position is 18 months.
The Associate Photo Editor will research and publish imagery that combines rich journalism with powerful visuals for publication acrossthe company's digital products.
The position requires a sophisticated visual aesthetic, strong editing skills, and the flexibility to work under the demands of an ever-changing schedule and diverse content. He/she/they will pitch content ideas, research imagery, produce content, and manage the image workflow.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pitch content ideas, research and select images, and license stock photography for use in the daily newsletters.
  • Work collaboratively with executive editors, photo editors, Instagram team, and photo archivists to produce content.
  • Liaison with rights and clearance departments to ensure rights to publish all images.
  • Manage digital assets in custom content management system, ensuring that metadata is complete and workflow procedures are followed.
  • Ensure caption information is gathered and disseminated, verify credit lines, archive and transmit images, verify color correction, confirm image veracity
  • Produce and publish archival editions of daily newsletters consistent with original email newsletter formats.
  • Ensure that budgets and deadlines are met.
  • Ensure the digital presence is archived and organized.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Media Pro, Filemaker, AEM, and Unison.
  • Knowledge of photography business; great visual taste
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and departments
  • Ability to plan and execute in a timely manner and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage several newsletters at once
  • Experience managing deliverables and asset information
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to exercise independent judgement

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum two years of related experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving editorial environment preferred, with a deep understanding of digital best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
