To foster First Amendment freedoms for all.
The First Amendment is the cornerstone of a government by, for and of the people, yet most Americans can’t name the five freedoms it guarantees. Our vision is an America where everyone knows, understands, values and defends the freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. We believe that encouraging the broad understanding and vigorous use of these fundamental freedoms by the people is the best way to preserve and protect the First Amendment for future generations.
We raise awareness of First Amendment freedoms through education, advocacy and action, sharing the stories of Americans who have exercised their rights to ignite change.
EDUCATIONWe expand the public’s understanding of the First Amendment and when these freedoms are under attack or misunderstood, we educate people about their rights.
ADVOCACYThe First Amendment embraces the diversity of American experiences and perspectives, and our support of the First Amendment is nonpartisan. We champion these essential rights for all individuals.
ACTIONFirst Amendment freedoms belong to the people. The resources we provide and the conversations we inspire enlighten Americans about how to use their First Amendment rights to defend or advance causes and ideas that matter to them, their families and their communities.
The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan 501(c)3 foundation dedicated to fostering First Amendment freedoms for all.
The First Amendment protects all viewpoints. We give due consideration to differing perspectives in an effort to educate people about their First Amendment rights. By doing so, we exercise our responsibility to safeguard those rights for all.
We are supported in part by contributions and grants. Freedom Forum leadership determines the content of our work independent of outside funders.
