Beacon is a news website created by Maine People’s Alliance to highlight the experiences of everyday Mainers, share information about the political and policy processes that affect Maine people and promote a progressive worldview based on community, fairness and investing in the future.

Maine People's Alliance (MPA) is Maine’s largest community action group with 32,000 members across Maine. Since 1982, we have engaged everyday Mainers in campaigns for social, economic, environmental and racial justice.
