The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Public Affairs Coordinator, UNLV Integrated Marketing and Branding [R0119367]

ROLE of POSITION 

The Public Affairs Coordinator is a core part of the university’s central communications team. This position is the primary coordinator for all public records requests, working with university-wide faculty and staff as well as general counsel, students, and members of the general public, tracking all tasks and driving processes to meet deadlines; coordinates with commercial film crew activities from initial outreach to contract negotiation to filming on campus; responds to and coordinates media requests with senior directors of public affairs and media relations and works with campus communicators across UNLV; assists with crisis communication planning; creates and delivers presentations; and provides general and special projects support. The public affairs coordinator reports to the senior director of public affairs, a department under the direction of the chief marketing officer and vice president for integrated branding and marketing.  

QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and three years of related professional experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in communications, English, public relations, business, liberal arts, or related field and professional experience working with general counsel and/or executive level leaders.

In addition, a successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional proofreading and editing skills; the ability to think, plan and communicate strategically to a variety of audiences; strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to process information and communicate clearly under pressure, with little direction, and within tight deadlines; ability to build trusting relationships through, at times, limited interaction; ability to work within a team and demonstrate strong time management skills; hold a general knowledge of the local media, media trends, and current and emerging social media; thorough knowledge of all common office software applications and UNLV fiscal, human resources applications, and Workday knowledge is preferred. The incumbent will collaborate with other professional staff within central university communications and across the university, motivating individuals outside of the division to act with urgency. Strong awareness of issues in higher education is a plus.


SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
