Position summary
 
We’re looking for an experienced writer and editor who considers themselves a creative self-starter, savvy communicator and engaging storyteller. In this position, you will create and edit marketing content including thought leadership, research reports, product brochures, webcast and video scripts, blogs, infographic copy, and email messages to support Marsh’s marketing and growth strategies.
 
Our ideal candidate will be able to engage readers while maintaining the firm’s voice and applying Marsh branding and style guidelines. They must be skilled at working collaboratively (sometimes virtually) with members of the marketing and communications team, as well as colleagues from across the company.
 
How you’ll spend your day:

In this US-focused role, you’ll provide end-to-end management of content production, partnering with marketing strategists, practice leaders, subject matter experts, designers, and others to create and edit compelling thought leadership and sales materials. This will include the following activities:
 
  • Develop and use technical knowledge of risk management and insurance products, trends, and issues to deliver thought leadership and sales materials.
  • Combine research with interviews of internal and external subject matter experts to present technical material in an engaging style for our audience.
  • Provide direction and constructive editorial feedback to colleagues, including senior leaders.
  • Produce content for both internal and external audiences.
  • Help set editorial priorities and propose ideas to enhance the firm’s communications strategy.
  • Work with designers and others to create compelling reports, brochures, webcasts, web copy, blogs, infographics, videos, and other material.
  • Maintain accuracy and standards and ensure adherence to corporate style guidelines.

To be considered for this role, there are certain qualifications you’ll have to meet.

Required:
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate the insights drawn from data and provide direction on its use in marketing content.
  • Ability to meet tight and often evolving deadlines, including those imposed by client needs under urgent conditions.
  • Project management proficiency, including a knack for juggling several projects simultaneously while meeting changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with colleagues at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work on projects with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to direct the work of others.
  • Skilled in repurposing content for various formats, including social media.
 
Preferred:
  • Financial services and/or journalism background.
Education and years of experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of professional writing and publishing experience.
