Company Description:

TYT Investigates is looking for freelance, written-word reporters. We are eager to work with solid journalists who know how to do deep-dive investigative pieces on a national scale and how to break stories around fast-breaking developments in the news cycle.
We are looking for candidates who can generate and pitch stories on their own, as well as pursue assignments involving a broad range of issues and subject matter. Ideal candidates will be driven to break the kinds of stories that have impact on real people’s lives—by driving change and forcing discussion on issues and policy.

You should have experience with at least some of the following:
- Thinking creatively about how to turn policy issues into stories you can break
- Developing informed sources
- Analyzing data
- Utilizing web-based government and private research tools
- Obtaining government documents through freedom-of-information laws
- Reading and understanding legislative language, legalese, and fine print
- Writing in standard, inverted-pyramid, wire-service style
- Assisting in publication of your work on multiple platforms/social media

You must be able and willing to travel on occasion in the event a story requires it.
