The Daily Star seeks an experienced editor for our top newsroom leadership position in one of the newsiest regions of upstate New York. The editor is responsible for news and editorial content for a six-day print publication, niche publications and growing website, mobile and related social media sites. The editor also oversees the editorial operation of the weekly Cooperstown Crier. The editor directs a staff of 11 journalists, and is a key member of the senior management team, with a strong voice in strategic initiatives. Applicants need a solid background in multimedia newsroom management; strong story planning, editing and writing experience; ability to coach and motivate the staff to produce quality work, and a passion for producing local content that matters, including accountability journalism. Oneonta is located in south-central New York State 75 miles southwest of the state capital of Albany. The Daily Star serves southern Otsego County, including Cooperstown, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
