Company Description:

The Nights and Weekends Editor fills a crucial spot in the overall A.V. Club editorial strategy by finding stories, writing original content, directing other writers, and curating all aspects of The A.V. Club site and social to optimize traffic on nights and weekends. The position will report to the executive editor and work very closely with the editor and the news editor. Candidates can work remotely, but must be able and willing to consistently work nights (in Central time) and weekends. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Meet agreed-upon writing goals each day and/or week

- Direct and mentor other nights and weekends writers as necessary

- Manage all aspects of social promotion and on-site curation during evening and weekend hours.

- Pitch and produce longer-form content as necessary.

Qualifications:

- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

- Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high editorial standards

- Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to develop relationships with offsite writers

- Familiarity with CMS platforms

- Previous experience with short-form, pop-culture-focused writing

- Familiarity of and enthusiasm for TV shows, movies, books, comedy, comics, podcasts, other pop culture

- Familiarity of and enthusiasm for The A.V. Club.
