The Bay Area News Group is looking for a seasoned political reporter to lead our coverage as California confronts the Trump White House and Republican-controlled Congress. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the job serves the San Jose Mercury News and East Bay Times and its partner publications throughout California. While swarms of political reporters trip over each other in Washington, D.C., the Bay Area and Sacramento will serve as the front lines for many of the nation's biggest policy battles over the next four years. Our ideal candidate will be a natural at capturing the showdown by combining digital reporting and data skills, smart political analysis and the ability tell and report stories that will jump off the pages of our newspapers and come to life on our web sites. A minimum of three years' experience reporting for a professional news site or publication is required. Experience covering politics and additional language fluency are a plus. If you are interested, send us your resume, a cover letter, links to five recently published stories, and three ideas to tap into California's response to Trump's presidency. Email submissions by Jan. 16 with the subject line "Political Reporter Job" to Mike Frankel, Assistant Managing Editor/Regional, at mfrankel@bayareanewsgroup.com.
