As the Senior Director of Strategic and Executive Communications for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), I supervise all external and internal executive messaging for the country's first animal welfare organization as well as oversee our anti-cruelty PR team.
I previously held senior digital editorial and communications roles at PBS, Time Inc., and Nickelodeon.
A nationally-published and award-winning essayist, I authored the collections “Small Things Considered” (2014) and “The 40-Year-Old Version” (2009). My work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Newsweek, New Jersey Monthly, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, The Star Ledger, Parents.com, Babble.com, and in three "Chicken Soup for the Soul" anthologies.
I also teach quarterly public speaking classes for Mediabistro.com, and conduct a public speaking coaching seminar for private clients including American Express, Comedy Central, The Brennan Center for Justice, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and The American Jewish Committee.
In 1990, I won the U.S. Championship in After-Dinner Speaking, the Massachusetts Championship in Persuasive Speaking, and was ranked among the top ten public speakers in America. After coaching public speaking teams at colleges including the University of Pennsylvania and Seton Hall University, I was inducted into the National Forensic Association Hall of Fame in 2002.
