The University of Oregon School of Music and Dance is the largest and most comprehensive music and dance program in the Pacific Northwest offering music degrees through the doctorate. The dance program is the only one in Oregon offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The school has a faculty and staff of 85 in music, 15 in dance, and more than 80 graduate teaching fellows. Faculty members maintain careers as scholars, performers, conductors, and composers. The school has 400 music and dance majors but also provides courses and opportunities for 5,000 non-majors—or one-quarter of the university's student population—through studio lessons, ensembles, and general-education courses.
Our 525-seat Beall Concert Hall is acclaimed for its beauty and world-class acoustics. The school's signature ChamberMusic@Beall series, established in 1969, has hosted many of the world's top chamber ensembles, including the Tokyo String Quartet, St Martin in the Fields, the Ying and Turtle Island string quartets, and Imani Winds. The 2015–16 season has included the American Brass Quintet and the Collegium Vocale Gent.
