Description NewsWorks Tonight, a daily radio program that showcases the best reporting and storytelling by WHYY's staff of journalists, is looking for a part-time, temporary producer, to produce the show approximately 1 to 2 days per week. This position will work with the Audio News Director to determine the program's content within the station guidelines; attend production meetings and assist in identifying what will be broadcasted; edit clips, vox pops and ambient elements to enhance the production of the news; and research information for the show.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of four to five years experience producing in a broadcast, journalism or media environment. In addition, other skills that are required are advanced tape editing and post-productions skills; advanced knowledge or a keen interest in pop culture, politics, international affairs, consumer issues and the arts; and persuasive communication skills, including good writing, proofreading, and grammar skills as well as good broadcast writing skills and interview ability. In addition, to be successful in this position, the incumbent must be able to produce quality work under deadline pressure, make mature editorial judgements regarding the accuracy and news worthiness of a story and judge how interesting it will be to the listener.
