Company Description:

The Journalism program at Purchase College-SUNY is seeking an assistant professor (tenure-track) to teach a range of courses that cover reporting and writing, multi-platform content, social media, and the opportunity to design and teach course/s of one’s choosing. Teaching responsibilities include beginning and advanced courses in the major. Candidates will also advise majors in the Journalism program on their coursework as well as advise senior journalism majors on the development and execution of their senior project, which is a long-form reported work of journalism that may include video, photography and multi-media content. Candidates must have a strong profressional background in the journalism field, previous college teaching, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students.

Qualifications: Candidates must have strong professional experience in journalism, previous college teaching, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students. Preferred candidates will have a master's degree and a record of teaching and professional experience that spans print, online, and video platforms. Candidates must be adept at videography and non-linear editing, have strong AP style writing skills, be proficient at posting content to various websites, and be able to combine teaching and digital storytelling skills. Candidates with experience in visual storytelling, in documentary or other narrative non-fiction forms, will be preferred.
