Founded in 1924, the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism prepares students for rewarding careers as communicators.
Our more than 700 students gain experience working for award-winning student publications, broadcasts, and organizations while also learning in the classroom in a program that has been accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications(opens in a new window) since 1952.
Undergraduate students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Journalism(opens in a new window) degree on either the News and Information or Strategic Communication tracks, or develop an individualized course of study within the journalism framework through the Carr Van Anda Program. We also offer the Advertising and Public Relations minor and the Journalism minor.
Our graduate program offers the Master of Science Degree in Journalism(opens in a new window), with the chance for students to take part in a double-degree program in partnership with the University of Leipzig in Germany. We also offer a three-year Ph.D. program(opens in a new window) in mass communication-journalism.
The E.W. Scripps School of Journalism is also home to a host of special programs, including the High School Journalism Workshop(opens in a new window), one of the longest-running programs of its kind, the Schuneman Symposium(opens in a new window), which brings acclaimed journalists and experts to OHIO, and the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism(opens in a new window).
